Our experience
The Prototal Group was founded by Jimmy Sanderson, a dual trade electrician, plumber and gas-fitter. Jimmy’s vast experience in both the electrical and plumbing/gas-fitting disciplines ranges from government safety programs and large-scale installations to residential/commercial property maintenance both in Australia and abroad.
It was Jimmy’s extensive experience in oil and gas – an industry particularly focused on safety and compliance – that provided him with a strong fundamental competency in safety inspection, testing and reporting. Jimmy’s experience combined with the changes to the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA) regulations in Victoria led him to pivot his business to now focus solely on providing electrical, gas, smoke alarm and solar safety inspections for residential dwellings across the state. Changes to the RTA regulations
From 29 March 2021, new regulations under the RTA in Victoria came into operation. Under the new regulations, residential rental properties now require regular electrical, gas appliance and smoke alarm safety inspections. These inspections were previously optional but from 29 March 2021 became mandatory.
These changes pose significant changes for landlords and will result in considerable administrative challenges for property managers to ensure their landlords remain compliant – and their tenants safe – under the new legislation.
